Letter from Roy Bruce to Helen Bruce

26.3.1918.

My dearest Helen :

I have been
very pleased indeed
to hear of your successes
at school, and I
congratulate you with
all my heart.

You could not have pleased me more
than by a success
in your practice of
courtesy and in
French.

You will find as
you grow older that
courtesy and the
French language are
very close allies. you
may not understand
that just now - perhaps
Reverend Mother or
someone else will explain
it to you.

Thank you very
much for your card
dear, it is very pretty.
I am keeping it in
my pocket book.

Trixie must be a naughty
pony sometimes, but you
must not mind if
you do fall off some-
times and you must
always get on again.

Goodbye child for
the present, be happy
and always laugh at
your little misfortunes. Lots of love
and kisses from
Your affectionate
Father
